Rice !!!!
'' Where is the rice for our dinner ?'' My dad yell at my mum , my mum just shrug and said that ''i am now just back from work ,so i have jst started cooking now ''.Then my dad shook his head and left the kitchen .This matter was happening almost everyday between my mum and dad cos everybody in my family was busy with their thing except me.
I have my elder brother and sister ,and they were busy with their studying ,so their time were spent in front of the desk .My mum worked and my dad too .ME ??? I was only a 10 years old kid ,so ,i was absolutely free from this cooking zone .
I still have the vivid memory that it was 9 sept ,2001 ,7 days after i turned to 11 .I was jst watching my mum cooking and i really enjoyed watching the show .All of a sudden i got a pat on my back from my mum and she said ''come my little son i will show u how to cook the rice ''.Then she started teaching me ,young kid,how to wash the rice ,what amount of water do i need to put ,reducing the heat when it is needed to .I just tried to memorize what she is teaching me and felt that it is kind of interesting processes ,checking the rice to see if it is cooked or not yet ,reducing the heart when it is almost done to cook on slow fire .
The next day or the first time ,i got the chance to do cooking in the kitchen ,I said to my mum that '' mum! let me try to cook the rice for at least one time by myself '' ,then she let me to .So,i started to fire the charcoals .washed the rice while charcoals were burning ,and i put the rice in a pot and cook on the charcoal as it was getting turn to red .I went through all the steps that my mum taught me and i found it easy to do it ,then at the same time i enjoyed doing this .My mum she came near the pot and tasted a few rice ,then she smiled and said ,''it is perfect boy ,not very soft and not very hard .You did it on the first time u cook '' .I was on cloud nine .
From this day i have become a chef at home gradually and the problem with the rice was solved .
